Over the past couple years we have seen turbo 1UZ build pop up utilising the readily available cast Holley EFI front facing plenum on custom built manifold adapters. These manifold adapters utilise the factory lower intake on the pre-VVTI 1UZ engines and, as the name suggests, adapts the lower to the mounting face of the Holley EFI plenum.

As more and more turbo builds appear to be popping up we saw an opportunity to produce an offering for those that wanted to go down the same route and either were unable to fabricate there own manifold or wanted a high quality billet machined unit to compliment their build. What we ended up doing was 3D scanning the Holley intake to ensure the best possible fit then we took our OG high mount supercharger manifold design and modify it to suit, the result is what you see below.

At this stage modeling is near on complete and fitment trials are well underway, ETA for the first production models is end of April 2020.

Due to clearance issue with the crossover water bridge the manifold height needs to be a minimum of 50mm from the top of the lower intake, this with the addition of 100mm for the Holley plenum results in a total stack height of no less than 150mm which is approx 40mm higher than the factory upper intake manifold, in summary this setup will not sit under the bonnet / hood in most installs.

We have been working hard in the background on a number of new projects, some have been custom one off builds for customers and others either for ELATE or the ELATE Z20 SOARER build. This particular one we are super stoked about since we personally will be running an AR5 behind our 1UZ and know that there is a number of you wanting to do the same, with the current prices of W series or R series boxes its not hard to see why.

We have so far scanned both the AR5 and 1UZ bell housing, gathered all the reference points / features required and modelled up the first revision of the adaptor. Next phase will be to print a prototype to test fit the 2 units together…

It’s been a while since I’ve had the time to focus on the blog side of this site, 2018 has been a crazy year for us and would like to say a huge thank you to all our customers and supporters!

As we roll out of 2018 and into 2019 expect some content to start appearing a bit more frequently. This post ultimately marks the first in what will hopefully be a long line of post showing the build progress of the ELATE MFG Soarer which we are planning to have ready before the 2019 Geelong Revival . The car will showcase a number of ELATE’s capabilities ranging from our current offerings through to new products and reverse engineered / modified components.  The overall aim is develop and fit as many of our own products as possible, ambitious goal for sure but I’m confident we can make this work..

First off is this small mod to the factory auto surround. Steps involved scanning the origininal, working out the overall dimensions and details of the ‘manual’ insert in CAD, printing it out in carbon fibre filled PLA, cutting the profile out of the auto surround and carefully grafting in the insert using epoxies..

Stoked to say I’ve been pretty busy working on a few interesting projects here at the moment, one of which is recreating the classic MZ21 / Z20 , GZ20 Toyota Soarer factory AERO kit which is becoming really hard to come by for alot of owners.

Why the Soarer you may ask? Well I’ve just purchased one which will be used showcase some of ELATE’s products and capabilities and its lacking a kit so thanks to the help of another Soarer enthusiast we should be able to help other owners in need in the not too distant future.
