Over the past couple years we have seen turbo 1UZ build pop up utilising the readily available cast Holley EFI front facing plenum on custom built manifold adapters. These manifold adapters utilise the factory lower intake on the pre-VVTI 1UZ engines and, as the name suggests, adapts the lower to the mounting face of the Holley EFI plenum.

As more and more turbo builds appear to be popping up we saw an opportunity to produce an offering for those that wanted to go down the same route and either were unable to fabricate there own manifold or wanted a high quality billet machined unit to compliment their build. What we ended up doing was 3D scanning the Holley intake to ensure the best possible fit then we took our OG high mount supercharger manifold design and modify it to suit, the result is what you see below.

At this stage modeling is near on complete and fitment trials are well underway, ETA for the first production models is end of April 2020.

Due to clearance issue with the crossover water bridge the manifold height needs to be a minimum of 50mm from the top of the lower intake, this with the addition of 100mm for the Holley plenum results in a total stack height of no less than 150mm which is approx 40mm higher than the factory upper intake manifold, in summary this setup will not sit under the bonnet / hood in most installs.

After running into some clearance issues with our 1UZ to Z20 Soarer swap it became pretty apparent that we were going to be limited to using log style manifolds and figured others may be in the same boat. We have since decided to do a small run of some standard logs and some extra tight ‘block hugger’ style manifolds if you have absolutely minimal room to move.

The manifolds will be made from 3.6mm wall section SCH40 pipe and bends and painted with high temp paint to help prevent corrosion. No flange will be fitted as these can be either used as a base for a turbo setup or routed with additional bends to suit your install .

We are stoked to finally be able to say that our low mount non-VVTI 1UZ-FE SC manifolds are available to order through our online store. At this stage we are only offering a top plate to suit the Eaton SVT M112 and a blank plate which the end user can use to fit a range of aftermarket chargers provided the mounting face fits within the top plate dimensions.

More development stuff happening over here at ELATE, we started off by 3D scanning the factory 1UZ fuel rail to use as a reference so we could ensure that whatever we came up with would offer an OEM install with all the perks of an aftermarket high performance fuel rail…

New development stuff happening here at ELATE so thought I’d share…. One of the things some of our customers have had run ins with (and so have we) is belt tension once a charger is installed. Yes the 1UZ has an automatic tensioner installed but as we have found, along with others, is that sometimes this isn’t enough to stop belt slip once you start creeping up the rev range.

Now this tensioner concept isn’t new by any stretch but we figured we would develop out own bold variant. Construction is simple, full CNC machined body made from 6061 aluminium with a media blasted texture and an anodised finish. As with most things we do these will be low volume and at times made to order and will be available with or without DAYCO 60mm pulley.

As some may or may not know we have recently added a 3D scanning to our service offering, this means that not only will we be using this technology to improve our product range but will also be offering a service for those that want to gather 3d data of a physical object that they would like to recreate or reverse engineer be it industrial castings, old engine components that are no longer manufactured or scans done of engines to develop parts from.
